מַסִּיקII m. (נָסַק; sub. מִסִּים ) one who levies contributions, in gen. a Roman collector, oppressor (interch. with מֵצִיק). Tosef.Ohol.XVI, 13 (ed. Zuck. מציק); Y.Pes.I, 27c; (Bab. ib. 9a, a. Ab. Zar.42a מצ׳).Pl. מַסִּיקִין. B. Kam. X, 5 ונטלוהו מ׳ and government officers confiscated it. Ib. 116b מאן דאמר מס׳ … מצ׳וכ׳ he who reads massiḳin is not at fault, nor is he who reads mtsikin (ref. for the latter to מצוק, Deut. 28:57, for the former to Chald. סקאח for צלצל, ib. 42). Y.Sabb.XVI, end, 15d סופך לעשות במ׳ thou shalt be forced by the officers.Y.Dem.VI, 25b מן המ׳ שנו it means that he rented the field from the officers (who had confiscated it).
